Specific rotation defined as a rotatory power of a given solution. Specific rotation is referred as the angle of rotation a-alpha produced by 1 decimeter length of solution which has 1 gram of the substance per cubic centimeter. The measurement of Specific rotation is carried out at temperature T using sodium light.
Specific rotation = 100 x observed angle of rotation, Ө / Length in decimeters x grams of substance in 100 α of solution
