equation of an ellipse

Let us learn about equation of an ellipse

An ellipse is referred as the set of all points in a plane such that the sum of the distances from T to 2 fixed points F1 & F2 is a given constant, K.
TF1 + TF2 = K
F1 & F2 are both foci plural of focus of the ellipse.
The major axis is the segment which contains both foci & has its endpoints on the ellipse. These endpoints are known as the vertices. The midpoint of major axis is always the center of the ellipse.
The minor axis is always perpendicular to the major axis at the center & the endpoints of the minor axis are known as co-vertices.
The vertices are always at the intersection of the major axis & the ellipse.
The co-vertices are always at the intersection of the minor axis & the ellipse.
Equation of ellipse in standard form
[ x2/a2 ] + [ y2/b2 ] = 1
